I was born in 1953 and "according to our family tails" my grandfather put a 2 dollar bill in my crib for good luck. I've been trying to fine more to add to my collection nd perhaps keep m luck going. Today I found number 9.
No all nine are 1953 series. I have some in a safety deposit box but I think they are are all newer. Is '28 rare or are you looking for one for a collection?
Are you guys ordering $2 bills from the bank or getting them as change from somewhere? If you're getting them from the bank, how many are you buying at a time? How many keepers do you usually pull?
Actually, I have a teller that let me know when a collectible is on the drawer. Doesn't happen often and the red is easy to spot. Most of the 2's from the bank are new as the Fed had recycled a lot. A strap of 2's is $200 and you'll pro bible get all newer ones.
I got about 15 of these from a man that was demolishing a house and found a large stash of them in the walls. He said he had a "ton" more but had just spent them without thinking. When I saw him spending I bought what he had left. Wish I could have tracked down where he spent the others.
