1946 war nickel

I think i have a 1946 war nickel , it was all black and i had to soak it in vinegar to be sure. The S mint mark is to the right of the monticello, The back is not in very good shape, the color is dulled.
I have read the mint did mint a few of these, would love any feedback.

Welcome to Treasure Net !!

The Wartime nickels (1942-1945) had the mint mark above the Monticello dome. The mintmark returned to its pre-1942 position (to the right of Monticello) with the 1946 issue. Over 13M of the '46S were minted.
