It looks like it might say "Original Found In" ??? At any rate I'm pretty sure the first word is original.

Dont know if it helps, yet it a church scene in Bavaria. Chiemgau I think from the clothing.

Writing -which I cant read further than Original- is in in English though, since Original is in German spelled with only one "i".

Thank you for your post! I am sure that is a beautiful part of the world, I am glad the artist captured this point in time! Thank you for your help!

It looks a little later to me? Possibly even 1960S. Is there a 1945 date on it?

The mountain in the background is the Matterhorn - if that helps any.

I beg to differ. I still see Chiemgau traditional clothes

https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chiemgauer_Tracht

The hats in the foreground are a give away: Aschauers

look at these guys:

Unsere Tracht - GTEV D'Hartseer EggstättGTEV D'Hartseer Eggstätt

The church reminds me a little bit on the church in Ramsau (beautiful place, recommend to visit when near):

(scroll down, yet tracht is a little diffrent)

But, could it be a "Genre" picture: Nicest alpine dress + nicest church + most beautiful mountain all mixed together? Would be nothing wrong with it (cut is not without its qualities anyway) and the right thing for a GI to get home as souvenir 1945 to 1955!

Swiss are not as sharp dressers as Bavarians!
