They'll probably tell you it was dug/cleaned. . . microscopic hairline scratches from dirt. . . no matter HOW careful you are in recovering a coin from the ground, there will always be SOME hairline scratches on the coin. Plus, in the ground, it will have lost it's original luster/patina in the acidic soil conditions.

In Yeoman's 2008 Red Book, a 1944 in MS-65 is only $25. . . it will cost almost as much to have it graded. . . not worth it.
