So ecstatic that i found this! same hole as a 19?? wheat penny... Penny came first, then there was still a signal, and bam out comes this gal. As soon as i found it i went in and put it in a holder... Wanted to preserve it from tarnish as much as possible.

Congratualtions on the big silver find! :occasion14:

Looks like the coin has dirt remaining on the edges. IMHO, you could clean it with water, let air dry, then repackage in a 2 X 2. Being careful not to scratch the coin with the staples or any of the remaining dirt.

Congrats on the big silver!! I've got a franklin and a barber but, can't find a walker for the life of me. Lol

Your first?.....nothing like your first girl....so pretty, so sweet....

My silver coins in order where:

1936 mercury dime
1884 seated liberty dime
1956 silver dime (rosie i guess?)
and now a 1943 Standing liberty half dollar

That is a Walking Liberty Half, great find!!

Your post had me confused!! Yes it is a walking liberty half! Sweet find for being your first. Congrats!!

Your 56 dime is a rosie, nickname derived from Roosevelt being on it.

There is a Standing Liberty Quarter, it was minted from 1916 to 1930. It was designed by Hermon MacNeil
The Walking Liberty Half Dollar was minted from 1916 to 1947. It was designed by Adolf A. Weinman.
He also designed the Mercury Dime. 1916 -1945.
Look at the head on the Walking Liberty and then look at the Mercury Dime. The designer's handiwork is evident.
Congrats on your first Walking Liberty Half. It is a beautiful coin.

Love big silver!!

Congrats on your first Walking Liberty Half Dollar. May many more follow !

Congrats! I remember the excitement of my first half dollar.

My favorite part is you keep calling it "standing"... that's so cute. I bet your hands are shaking too.

When I found my first one, I was stammering and shaking, I had to go to the car to compose myself.

Best of luck to you!

Congrats on your walking lib half! There are many factors that affect a coin from toning such as fingerprints, moisture in the air, holder, etc. a 2x2 is not air tight but that coin shouldn't tarnish too much with proper care. But be careful of dirt in the crevices that can break free and scratch it
