Today i decided to start looking at some of the coins i have found metal detecting over the years. I guess you never know what you have until you look.

Anyhow, I found this dime with what looks like some doubling on the date and two of the letters in LIBERTY. Not sure what kind of error it is and i won't call it a doubled die because i have not found any examples of 1928 doubled dies on the net.

Yup, some machine doubling. Cool, but, not much extra value. :icon_thumleft:

I see it in the L for sure good find my friend

I can see it, and I agree with Cudamark. Its some minor machine doubling, but not enough to where they call it a Double Die.

Hello Ammoman,
Looks like Mechanical/Machine Doubling to me. It has the shelf-like look that constitutes mechanical doubling. Nice find though. :)

Thank you everyone for your input. Between the weather, work, and now shoulder issues, detecting has been limited to a grand total of 3 hours in the past month. I am trying to stay busy by coin roll hunting. Yeasterday i ran out of coins so I resorted to my Treasure stash. Coins i have found over the years and never sold. I have a few more rolls of silver to go through so, maybe something better than a machine doubled error will pop up!

Cheers:occasion14:

Still a very nice find...nice eye! :occasion14:
