Hello everyone!

I took a short drive up north to do some detecting with my good buddies Ron & Richard ~ we all had a good time, but we sure were tired by the end of the day.

Here's what I dug today:

1918-D Standing Liberty 25c
1920-D Merc 10c
1943-S Merc 10c
1945-S Merc 10c
1952-D Rosie 10c
ten wheats ~ '13-S, '17-S, '19-S, '42-S, '44-S, '45-S, '46-S, '55-D x2,
'58-D
Silver ring
US OR 162 Military Hat pin
4 clad quarters
17 clad dimes
4 nickels
69 memorial cents

Today I had a much better day for my wheats-to-silver ratio than last Sunday ~ last Sunday I dug 14 wheats and zero silver coins ~ today I dug 10 wheats and FIVE silver coins! WOOHOO!!!

Thanks for looking!
Neil

Hi Kip!

Yeah, you're a busy guy ~ hopefully you can get out swinging that XLT in Idaho SOON!!

I'll try my best to hit 100 silvers by 2009 ~ Wish me luck! If I add in the War nickels than I'm very close ~ I've dug 80 silvers plus 16 War nickels this year!
"odd", war nicks have as much silver as the silver dimes. I think ur total is 96! I believe u will get your "100" WTG. D.D.
8^)

Heck yea War Nickles count they have silver in them don't they. ??? That SLQ went from the mint to the ground to your pocket, with some time between... Awesome !! I'll find my first SLQ soon !

Keep @ it and HH!!

There has been a run on great looking SLQ's at this site lately, great stuff!

Great hunt OC, man you're picking up some nice coins here in the last stretch of the year. Nice haul. The SLQ is sweet WTG

Without the 18D, that's an excellent day...Great finds!

Yeah, the 1918-D 25c was the last silver coin of the day (#5 for the day ~ #80 for the year). I was quite please with my finds ~ then that Standing Lib was the cherry on my treasure Sundae!

Good day? Are you kidding? That list looks like my YEARLY totals! WOW! TTC

Wow Oddcoins, Id say you had a great day! ( and that quarter is stunning!!)
HH! Dale

That is one awesome quarter. the other stuff is great also.

I'd like to know more about the Military pin/botton! I wonder how old it is?

I would guess that the pin is pre-WWII but I'm not sure. If you go by your local Guard unit they might be able to identify the unit so you could research the history. The pin is similar to the ones I had in the Army in the late 80's. It was a lapel pin for our dress uniform. If you find out a date pm me and let me know,I'm curious :icon_scratch:. Bighead

Hello!

I posted pic's of the button in the "WHATs IT" category ~ ~ here's the info I got . . . . . . The background pattern identifies it as a Type II disk, c. 1926-37 (In some cases, they remained in use until around 1940). But I found info for 162nd Infantry Oregon National Guard based in McMinnville and Hillsboro ~ what's the difference?

Most units in the Army are Battalion sized and attached to a division. Because a battalion is made up of four company's of inf and most town guard units don't have enough people to fill them so they split them up! Some big towns have full units, but most are a small part of a bigger unit drawn from all over the parent state. I hope this helps explain your question. Thanks for the info, I'm glad to see all those years of reading military history books were good for something :tongue3:. HH Bighead
