About a month ago,I decided to hit one of my heavily worked over spots again and got a surprise! Towards the end of the hunt, there was a light silver reading at about 9" deep. So I dug very carefully and in the dirt that had been scooped out of the hole, there was a nice silver edge showing. The coin had dirt covering it so as not to show what it was, so I took it home to be washed. It so happened that the front of the dime showed first, 1916! on a merc that was in very good shape. Now that was exciting until the back was washed and revealed no mint mark. I am still thrilled to find one in that good of shape! Hope you enjoy the coin. HH

Awesome find, congrats!!!! Ahh you'll get the 16d next time!!! :icon_pirat:

You recovered that dime and removed the dirt from it in a Top Notch way.

Well Done  (And She's a Beauty, too!)

That is a nice one, congrat's.I found a 1916-s a couple of weeks ago. When I dug it I could see the date and flipped it over and saw a mintmark but couldent tell what it was.I was dyin to go home and clean it up so's I could see it but stuck it out for abit longer...good thing cuz I found a nice 14k ring soon after that !
