Hunted 2 houses in town yesterday. The Barber was one of my first digs, right next to the walkway leading to the front door. It was only about 3" down and gave an iffy signal so I wasn't paying too much attention when I was digging it or handling it. Of course I scratched it with the trowel and rubbed it to see what it was which didn't help the value. Oh well, I wouldn't sell it anyway, its my best coin so far. Also found '45 and '46 nickels (Is the '45 a war nickel? It looks way cleaner than any nickel I've found.) 9 wheats ('21S, 44S, 45, 48D, 48D, '52D, '53S, '54S, '56D). Next to the quarter in the pic is a locket cover inscribed "Lizzy". Also a bunch of memorial cents, 3 newer quarters, 3 newer nickels and 2 dimes. Some other little relics.

Thanks for looking and remember don't rub those silver coins, you never know what you've got.

Happy Hunting,

Evan

man, what a hunt ! i spend most of my detecting time hunting front yards of old homes as well. it's pretty easy to obtain permision and i normally end up finding some really cool stuff. congrats.

Beautiful! I have to get the nerve to approach old home owners and get permission from them.

Wow, is the mint close by?

Because I think that thing got dropped by one of the mint workers in 1905, then rolled all the way to that spot and sat there for the proceeding 100 years!

Nice find!
