Hunted 2 houses in town yesterday. The Barber was one of my first digs, right next to the walkway leading to the front door. It was only about 3" down and gave an iffy signal so I wasn't paying too much attention when I was digging it or handling it. Of course I scratched it with the trowel and rubbed it to see what it was which didn't help the value. Oh well, I wouldn't sell it anyway, its my best coin so far. Also found '45 and '46 nickels (Is the '45 a war nickel? It looks way cleaner than any nickel I've found.) 9 wheats ('21S, 44S, 45, 48D, 48D, '52D, '53S, '54S, '56D). Next to the quarter in the pic is a locket cover inscribed "Lizzy". Also a bunch of memorial cents, 3 newer quarters, 3 newer nickels and 2 dimes. Some other little relics.

Thanks for looking and remember don't rub those silver coins, you never know what you've got.

Happy Hunting,

Evan

wow! that's in great shape! i found a 1911 in about the same shape...most barber quarters come out looking very worn.

beautiful!

That Barber is at least in XF shape,it's a shame you dinged it.That 45 nickel is a silver war nickel,if there is a big mint mark over the dome on the rear.

Beautiful quarter!!! I'm sure it was dropped just days after being minted.

All '45 Nickels are called wartime nickels, which are 35% silver!!

Congrats,

omg what a great quarter! look at that crisp detail.

weve all scratched coins, i feel your pain.

I love to dig those Barber quarters. Yes you have to hate it when you ding a coin. I have bladed more than my fair share of early "S" wheaties and a few silver coins. >:(

Keep it up.

Very nice Barber! I've been thinking of upgrading from the Ace 250 just so I can make finds like that. But at 3" the Ace would be ringing like crazy. Maybe I'll just start looking for older hunting grounds.

nice finds, great looking barber - gotta love that silver !

congrats

I scratched my best coin find to date so don't sweat it. Also don't RUB your finds either! Been there done that.

Regardless I would LOVE to find a Barber coin let alone one in as nice a condition as yours is.

WTG!!!

Surprised it gave an iffy signal. Glad you dug it. That coin looks awesome. HH jgas

The house was from the 20's so I'd love to know how that coin ended up there. It must have been on it's side because I was getting a solid 80s VDI one way and a spotty signal the other way. As you can see, I didn't find anything even close to the age of the quarter after that.
