Hit an old road tear out with my dad this morning. The place has been our stockyards for a 150 years or so . Dad found some old chunks of plumbing lead and I finally got a good signal on the Dfx and out popped this Barber sticking out of a clod .
Figured it was clad as the color looked about usual for one . Was quite surprised after a bit of cleaning in a near by puddle . 20 minutes later the end of my lower rod came apart . I guess all that banging around in the rocks with the 13" coil done it in .
Dad saved the day with a roll of electrical tape in his truck . ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1473106744.584973.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1473106753.463127.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1473106764.114192.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1473106773.446552.jpg

Sorry about your machine but nice quarter. Looks like it can be repaired though with some good epoxy.

I have a few more rod ends but I think some epoxy with take care of this one .
I have the quarter soaking in some vinegar. Might get it a little more presentable.

Sweet quarter ..That sounds good to be able to hunt with your dad. Thanks for sharing the post!!!!!!

Any Barber is a great find, congrats! I assume the detector shaft is hollow. If so, epoxy a short piece of a wood dowel rod into both pieces to make it solid. I have fixed broken fishing rods this way using metal rods.

Nice job on the Barber Quarter. Hope your detector is feeling well soon.

Congrats on the Barber quarter, they are hard to find

Congratualtions on the Barber quarter!

Electrical tape and Duct tape are all purpose solutions to in field mishaps!

CORNFUSION SAY NICE, BAABER FIND .
