My hunting partner picked me up on Sunday at the usual 6:30 a.m. We like to get out early & beat the heat. We got to the site, which is just the yard area bordered by cornfield on 3 sides. There are also 5 mature trees on the perimeter which did provide some shade. I don't know how many years the house has been gone, ( I forgot to ask the owner ) but this place provided finds from early to modern. As you can see, there are some large pieces of pottery from a crock. I also found the pinkish bottle top & blob top complete with stopper on the edge of the cornfield, along with the ceramic doll leg & foot. Some of the dug finds included the 3 modern matchbox cars, 1 Tootsie Toy car, the crotal bell, the metal guitar, the 2 round discs with a design on them - but I have not been able to identify yet, the Queen Elizabeth flower tag, 4 Wheat Pennies, a 1904 Indian, & the 1937 Mercury Dime. My detecting partners finds are not pictured, but he found 3 Wheats & 2 Indians. One was an 1868 & a 1901. This was a pretty good outing, considering it was 90 degrees at 10:30 when we stopped & the ground is very dry & cracked. We will without a doubt re-visit this spot after a good fall rainstorm. I'm sure we lost some depth due to dry ground.
