Went out with my buddy car91rs to our local honey hole in hopes of finding specifically a gold ring. My buddy's been killing it at this old dumpsite finding gold rings. My gut told me last night, get out and you will find one tomorrow. Well, I listened and found a toy copper Orphan Annie decoder ring from the 50's. I continued with my hunt and then found a buffalo nickel no date and a few wheats, a miniature Arabian sword, a partial Hindu statute and some old whisky and bourbon bottles. After a few hrs my buddy called it a quits to have lunch with his wife, so that just left me. Well just as I was about to quit I got a strong high signal 93-97 on the AT Gold in a heavy iron pile. After digging a few inches I see what I thought was another toy ring. Shucks! Just my luck another toy ring... Well, once at home I take a closer look and see the letters "Ste" I know immediately its sterling... Well, I say to myself it's not gold but I'll take silver any time. I decide to use electrolysis to clean it due to the heavy crud on it. An hr later I'm surprised to find the words "OB Sterling + 10K". Wow! I have some gold, lol! I'm glad I listened to my gut. It's not everyday that it talks to me but when it does, man... It never fails me! Last time I had a strong feeling like this, I found a $5 dollar gold coin. History : Is the that maker E. Ostby died on the Titanic in 1912. He was traveling with his young daughter who survived. Enjoy the picks

Great digs! I found an "OB" ring back in March..it was cool to read the history of that jewelry firm, history rocks!:headbang:

Would love to find a spot like yours! Like I said before your finds all have special interest to me as I also collect old premiums. Congrats on a steller ring find.

Lmao, thats right Macaydon... I miss spoke. I looked it after i cleaned and for some reason I had Orphan Annie in my head. Thanks bud!

At the end of the year going to look at my stuff and get rid of some stuff. my shoe boxes are getting full, lol. maybe I'll return it to the old dumpsite.

I'll add some history to your Sky King ring:

It was distributed by Peter Pan Peanut Butter in 1949 for 20 cents and a jar top liner. It was one of the more useful rings made. The metal ring has a red plastic compartment to which a hinged metal piece is attached on one side. In the center of the metal is a round domed magnifying glass. On the other end of the metal piece is a hinged piece of D-shaped, whitish plastic which is luminous. Embedded
in the center of the plastic is a ball point pen which originally held red ink. Today, those that still exist, most likely hold nothing.

The sides of the ring were embossed with pictures of Sky King’s airplane Flying Arrow and his horse Yellow Fury along with their names. The fun thing about this ring was the way it all folded up into a nice compact ring. There was even room enough in the secret compartment to keep tiny notes. When it was all folded up it just looked like a ring with a white stone. No one would ever suspect you had such tools at your disposal! Prime examples of this ring have sold for as much as $125.
Don....

No way man, paso del norte, come on.

Awesome finds!

Casca, I'm saving them for you. Every time I find a shard with a makers mark I put it in my pouch.

I'll give them to Jimmzz when he come down. That one has to be the nicest one I've found I could only image the history behind it.
