The other day I found this 40mmX30mm stamped brass alloy small plain buckle tongue on an 18th century site. It was found next to sleeve buttons, pewter buttons, and a ball button. Any clues?

Definitely part of a 2 part buckle... but i do not think its military... due to the size of that connection area.
Usually those are "meaty" when compared to that one.
My guess is a woman's buckle for such and such... sash / belt etc.
