Made the trip down to Louisiana this weekend and it was nothing short of what I had expected. Great group of peeps, awesome food and prizes and a keeper for the coin book.

And I found this copper disc with a square hole in the middle? ??? Do they make washers with square holes?

I am adding a link to the hunt pages if you wanna see all the sites from the past weekend. If ever you have the opportunity to go to a Tnet group hunt, GO! It's a great time!

Here's a pic we took of the Mississippi on the way back today.

I also won the MIS award this weekend! 8) WSD was handing out trophies and seems he thinks I'm this years Most Improved Swinger! ;D AND I have a new nickname.... 'Lucky Pants' !
Prizes were being given out by calling numbers that were in an unmarked envelope that we had chosen before the drawing began. The envelopes had either 6 or 7 numbered tickets in each one. Several prizes had been given out and the next prize was for this pretty set of BARBER coins. ;D (Ya'll know how I am fond of Barbers) I turned and looked at BB and ME and said, "This one's for me!" ;D Sure enough, the number was mine, and I won 'em! :o I love 'em too!

I'm glad I rubbed your belly! helped me find my silver!

This woman is amazing folks! I had a questionable signal, the Beast was insisting it was silver but I told it it was big iron (he never listens) anyway Nana is a few feet away so I ask her to swing over the target. She does and says to me "It's a disk off a tractor or big piece of iron. I dug down like 4 inches more and sure enough there it was a disk!!! I covered the hole back up and just shook my head in amazement.

Nana you ROCK! :headbang: :headbang: and so do your finds.

Your round item with square is a Branch Disk for US Army Uniforms. The square are would hold the branch symbol (Infantry, Artillery).

Nana I was going to post what 88irocarmy just did. I just looked at my journal and I found one of those last fall and someone id'd it as just that, a piece of milatry insignia backing.

Makes sense since the young guy dug the front grill off a military truck out of the ground.!

You still rock! Love ya

Great finds and post as always, thanks for sharing.

HH and Good Luck. :icon_sunny:

Congrats on the IH Nana. Can you give us a recap of what was found by the other members? Gold...silver....cannons.....a galleon?

Baggins... So glad to have met you! Hope to hunt with you again. :)

ME....There should be enough luck there to carry you through till next season! I'll be watching for your next post! :D You are too kind! :-* Just a lucky guess on my part. Was great to see you again!

88...Thanks for that ID! And thanks to all who helped to get it figured out. :)

TX....I'm not sure what all was found. I can remember a few....Caleb found a gold ring, TC, ME and John found silver, and I'm sure lots more was found, but I didn't get to see all the finds. Hopefully they'll post them.

Hope to see you next year, CG! You'd love all these folks, I know I do. :)

AHHHH! Thanks for that, Tom! :-* :D I don't know what I'd do without ya! :D

Thanks again, ya'll! Nana :)

Nana,
Looks like you had fun and got some stuff too - sweet prize. ;D I'm drooling on your IH. Man, I wanted to find an IH on my last trip. I still haven't found one this year yet!

I count about 35 in your group. That is almost too many for me but not that bad. For the DFX hunt we had 69 register. I don't know how many of those actually showed up but I know it was at least 50. When you get 50 people and very good finds are being made unfourtunately the greed factor comes out. Most of the people are great but it's always those one or two that leave a bad taste in your mouth. Anyway, I'm sure the TNET hunt was different. I'm sure you also made sure no one was a jerk. ;D :D

Love the Indain head Nana. And don't you know that WSD gets turned on by any part of the female anatomy, knee caps especially! I'll bet he was looking for a garter? "Lucky Pants" huh? There is something magical in one's favorite hunting outfit. I haven't had a really good find since my lucky blue checkered prospecting shirt got sent to Goodwill! So, keep your pants on! M :o nty

Nice going Nana...Cool Pics and Finds. You had a little of everything, Coinage and Relics. Congrats and HH

:D Us gals kept them boys in check, Bob! They knew to mind their manners! Didn't have to tell 'em twice! ;D

Jim, I think you may be right about WSDaddy. :o :D And yes, he was looking! :D
I somehow ended up with two garters..a purple one and a hidden one.... ;D

Cammo! ;D

Thank you Wyatt. :)

Looks like everybody had a super time.

Nice digs... depending on the age of the site.. the copper disk with the hole could be a washer used on a slate roof. They use to use.. half cents too!! It seem they were cheaper to use then buying the copper disk. I saw a box of them at a antique show once.. 40 or 50 1/2 cents all with holes in the middle from old square nails. I asked the guy who own the guy who own the booth about them and he said they came from a house that had been torn down.. they found them when they started dismantling the slate roof.. I could have cried!!! Standing there looking at all those half cents with huge holes in them!!!

Thanks ya'll! :)

And thanks for that info too, MB. I don't know much about the age of the site. I'll have to ask Noodle if she knows.
:idea1: Just for curiosity's sake, I looked in my coin book and found a pic of one of the large cents and placed the copper disc on top to see if it was close to the same size...it seems to be so close. I would be thrilled if it was even if I can't read a thing on it. :-\ :D
