Formerly New Orleans.. Now Pueblo Co
Detector(s) used
several, mostly Garrett
Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
We started work on another old house this week, completely gutting it for renovation. I really didn't expect to find anything in it since it had been previously remodeled at some point, but when I pulled off one of the mantles and dug through the dust underneath I found a really nice 1889 V nickle. She's a bit discolored but has really good detail left. I still haven't gotten a new camera (hoping for Christmas) so the pic doesn't do it justice. I'll be detecting the yard tomorrow over lunch so we'll see what else turns up.

. . . some of my best finds over the years have been while renovating old homes . . . great find.

a couple better pics...... might just have this camera almost figured out......

Here's a question up for opinions....Every coin I've ever found in or near a mantle down here has been discolored, do you suppose it could be from low quality coal with a high sulfer content? Or possibly from the lime content in the mortar? I would think that sealed up like that would keep them a little cleaner.
