I finally got out today . :) I started at a roman site and after three hours of mountian searching I gave up for easier hunting in the valley. I found a nice 1885 silver one mark . The first one that I have found here and a nice silver wedding band. I also found a musket ball and a neat pin that has a horse shoe with a whip wrapped around it. I have been doing battle with the scanner for an hour and I have gave up for now. It keeps giving errors. Hope I can figure out what is wrong with it. I will try to get some pics up later. Hope all is well and HH.

Birdman you are diffinitely one of the shining lights around here. Another group of awesome finds...a Mark! WOW!...Well done!

Question: Could you share with us how you go about finding sites to hunt over there?

Re: 1885 silver!

Nice birdman, Sounds like you were onto a good trail. I'm sure there is something else to find in that area.

Re: 1885 silver!

Badger, The truth is that there is just so much history here it is fairly easy to make good finds. I got lucky and met a couple of locals that have pointed me to places and you can just drive down the road and see 400 year old villages all over the place. It has been a real privilege to be stationed here. I have 11 months left and I am gonna hate to go. I would stay but the wife wants to try to get close to family. The only problem with that is we may be on the other side of the country.Life is good though and the only problem is I don't have near enough time to hunt. Hope winter is being kind to everyone. It has been in the 40s all week with rain. dekalb33 I have pics of the cannonball, I put it in a electrolysis tank for 3 days and the corrosion came off pretty well. I can not get the pics small enough to post ,even after resizing. I am no computer guru at all . I will try to put some pics of the finished product soon. I got the plug out and sprayed it out for about 20 minutes but it still has some powder in it. I am letting it dry out now and am gonna try getting the powder out dry. Wish me luck.LOL

I KNEW YOU WERE GONNA FIND IT! ;)

When you told me you had not found a silver mark yet.....I knew it was coming!

Awesome!

;)

Very nice looking coin, & that is a awesome looking horseshoe pin,Thanks for getting the pics up...
Good luck, & Happy hunting~

As usual, great finds. I wonder how you're going to get all the stuff you've found back, when you PCS. Isn't there a weight limit any more? Or does 'treasure' not count towards the total weight? LOL.

Keep on digging, and posting. Gives the rest of us something to drool over.

Roger

Yep. What NANA said. With the finds you been making we could tell it was just a matter of time. Very nice!!! WTG!!! HH

Nice finds Bman and congrats on the silver! HH, Mike

Smartin ,I am about an hour from Frankfurt close to Kaiserslautern. Let me know if you can make it over this way.

Birdman, I know exactly where you are.(k-town or Ramstien). I was in Bexbach which is next to Saurbrouken(misspelled), or right next to the French border. There are many areas in Bexbach that are waiting to be detected ( 300 yr old park, many historical public grounds, etc. ) Bexbach is only 25 klicks west of Ramstien. Good luck hunting. PS: is Tom's Golden Nugget still around?
