1882CC Morgan...whats it worth?

That sure stinks! I have yet to have that happen to me, and I hope it stays that way. At least you were able to return them. Better luck next time!

Yeah it sucked.....but knowing what I paid for them I knew there was a decent chance they were fake. Funny part was 3 of the coins were 1885cc and 2 were 1887cc??? They didnt even make a Carson City in 1887! I couldnt see the date on those coins in the photo, would have been helpful.

Damn!...Were they coming from the States? I think people selling them should be banned from Ebay

Please post a link to the exact auction.

Yes they were - New York. From the way they listed them I dont think they knew they were fakes, but who knows. They immediately refunded my money when I informed them they were counterfeits.

That's pretty much a dead giveaway. At least the seller was a good sport about the return. I've seen an 1887 CC Morgan before. The president of my coin club had it for show and tell as an example of the chinese counterfeits and a way to not get fooled. I thought it was kind of funny. I've also seen an 1872 trade dollar, funny since they weren't in production until 1873. And no, it was not a pattern.
