Found this 1877 Victorian Penny - Very smooth and green after being in the ground so long but when tilted to the light can make out quite a bit of detail.
My untrained eyes can't see if Britannia has a smaller head, thinner neck and if the sea touches linear circle or not (Reverse H) but hoping so - can you guys tell?

Always a bonus to get a date. The wear makes it about 50 years in circulation before it was lost around WWI era.

Not sure what you saying about it, but it looks normal to me.(although I don't look to closely normally)

Always a plus to find something different. That is a keeper for sure. Congrats....jgas

Hi Crusader - always good to hear from you (I envy your finds soooooooooo much!!!)
There were 2 types of pennies minted in 1877 (spink 3954):-
Reverse J (1875-81)
Larger Britannia seated right on rocks with shield and trident, left leg more visible, wider date below in deeper exergue, lighthouse to left, ship sailing to right, sea does not meet linear circle either side, toothed border.
and,
Reverse H (1874-75, 1877)
Britannia seated right on rocks, smaller head, thinner neck, with convex shield and trident, no signature, narrow date below in exergue, tall thin lighthouse to left with 6 windows, lamp area of four vertical lines, close date numerals, tiny rock to left, ship sailing to right, sea touches linear circle, toothed border.

Perhaps not in this condition but one (J) is worth £2, the other (H) is worth £1000 - big difference.

ive got to get myself a coin year book!

i had one but lost it :(

nice coin  for some reason i find less victorian coppers than any other :icon_scratch:

I haven't a clue, but you can probably guess which its likely to be :'(

Cannot see for sure, but if you look at the date, it seems to be the wider version. The numerals are far apart. Lots of times the numerals are very close together.... you may just have that J version. great coin

God bless
Peter
