Hello all,
I'm so exited to be putting this awesome find on here for my Dad!:icon_salut: First of all my Dad is the best Dad in the world to me, he has worked hard to raise me, and he is still working hard to make a living for him and my Mom. My Dad used to take me metal detecting for Civil War relics when I was a kid, so it's because of him I have a tremendous love for the hobby. My Dad is a traveling RN, and he is in Nevada working, he met up with a guy there that detects, and the man was nice enough to take him to one of his spots. He let my Dad use his Whites Prism III, that's probably about a $100 machine:laughing7:, and well my Dad scored this extremely rare dime! I know that my Dad probably won't make banner with this find, because he usually doesn't post on here much, but being the awesome Dad that he is to me he gets a big BANNER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! vote from me. Way to go Dad!!!!:icon_thumright: Love ya! Thanks everyone for your patience on me being long winded and emotional, and most of all thanks for looking!

A rare Dad deserves a rare coin...Congratulations to your dad and you. You've turned out to be a great son from the way it sounds. That coin is very rare and reminds me of the one SmokinJoe found recently. He found an 1870CC half dollar, I think it was. He had it slabbed and sent to auction. Estimates ranged from a few thousand to 20 or $30,000. Anyway it was slabbed and it was marked "with environmental damage" because of dark staining and brought just under $5,000. So condition is everything after rarity. Your Dad found a swell coin and it's in a safer place now, lol. Take care of them both, they're both actually priceless and irreplaceable in my opinion. Dug PS: you've got my vote!

Well said Dug, thanks.

I guess if this had been a rare token from Arkansas more people would've commented on it.:laughing7:

I know.

Score one for the Arkies! Its definitely a banner quality find, as I have seen 1916D Mercs make the banner, and this coin is more valuable. There were only 20,100 minted. However, this site has some pretty quirky rules when it comes to the banner. Not sure on this, but I think the fact that you posted the find, but your dad found it will likely prevent it from getting banner recognition. Regardless, its a GREAT find!
