Hello all,
I'm so exited to be putting this awesome find on here for my Dad!:icon_salut: First of all my Dad is the best Dad in the world to me, he has worked hard to raise me, and he is still working hard to make a living for him and my Mom. My Dad used to take me metal detecting for Civil War relics when I was a kid, so it's because of him I have a tremendous love for the hobby. My Dad is a traveling RN, and he is in Nevada working, he met up with a guy there that detects, and the man was nice enough to take him to one of his spots. He let my Dad use his Whites Prism III, that's probably about a $100 machine:laughing7:, and well my Dad scored this extremely rare dime! I know that my Dad probably won't make banner with this find, because he usually doesn't post on here much, but being the awesome Dad that he is to me he gets a big BANNER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! vote from me. Way to go Dad!!!!:icon_thumright: Love ya! Thanks everyone for your patience on me being long winded and emotional, and most of all thanks for looking!

Wow that is a way cool find.......What is really cool is the love and respect you have for your Dad. No disrespect meant toward my wife or daughter but my best memories by far growing up are times I spent with mine. He is not able to go like he used to now that he is in his mid 70's but he is the best friend a man could ever want. Tell him Congrats on his find and God bless you for realizing how precious your relationship is with your Dad. I try to tell mine how lucky he is to have such a fine son, and he replies he should have drowned me when he figured out I had such a rotten streak. Still deer hunts with me but getting hard for him. Sorry for rambling. Happy hunting to ya both.

Congrats. Great find!

Thank you, he would've put it on here himself, but he can't do it with his phone, and he works a lot.

That's an incredibly rare and valuable dime :headbang: Way to go Papa Peanut!!!!! You guys need to get up here and hunt again this year :occasion14:

That's a great dime. The mint at Carson City produced some very historical coins, and this is one of them. Described by some as simply a way for the mining companies to sell their silver, the Carson City mint produced coins used locally to replace what William Wright called, "old shinplasters with no discenable character or pedigree" which were circulating across the saloon bar tops, faro tables and merchant counters in Virginia City and Gold Hill. I think the major ore pockets from that time period were The Savage Mine and The Gould and Curry. Read about the Savage Mine fire, for more information. It was said that the take for a day from the printing of the Territorial Enterprise in Virginia City was 2 milk buckets full of these dimes, 2/3 rds of the way full. It's a great coin.

Really nice find.:icon_thumleft:

Nice dime,,WTG,,very nice story on your Dad,his Blessings came from being a Great Dad,,I'm not sure on old coins but I think that's a rare----find,especially cc,:occasion14:,,HH

Beleive it or not,but more of those are dug back East than out here! They are rare but really Rare here!!I live 3 hours from the mint

When umrgolf told me that your dad had found that dime I was very ecstatic for your dad!:hello2: I have been very fortunate to have found (2) dimes with that same date & mint mark over the years!! Yes, with the low mintage of 20,100 and the value of the coin it does belong up top!!! I will make an attempt to vote banner and I hope others will as well!!!! Tell your dad I give him a huge congrats!!!!!:headbang:

But, as you stated so very well, the love you have for your dad and the bond you have with him is priceless and worthy of Banner over anything material every time!!!!!!

Peanut, you have a great friend in umrgolf and an amazing dad......life is good!!! Of course, the passion we all share and digging a cool relic or coin is also a plus!!!!!!!!!
