This is my first find of anything real exciting and excited i was ;D. I found it at an old house site which is now in the middle of a hayfield. I am clueless ??? when it come to the value of coins can ay one help me out please? Also shown in one of the pics is a musketball that must have been dropped 'cuz it is in excellent shape. Also is an unknown. My theory is that it is the plate that went around a keyhole. that was found at a site where a church once stood.

i wonder if they plow this field every year, it might be worth some repeat visits in the years ahead. (after they turn the soil over)

Nice IH. I think 1866 and 1867 are both key dates. That one looks really good for a dug coin. Looks like it has a full liberty on the head band. Very nice find.

That's a beauty! Any IH dated pre-1880 are good ones to find.

Soak it in olive oil overnite and it looks like it should pruce up quite nicely. But don't soak for too long though.

Great detail!

Great detail Papa, don't mind me, I just wanted to play with your penny in these pics... cropping with my software and little enhancing for detailing.

Wow, beautiful looking coin, WTG!!!
1867 is one of the better years for Indian Head's. Here's a site that will give you some idea about the value...
http://www.pcgs.com/prices/frame.chtml?type=date&filename=flying_eagle_indian_cent

Not sure what that would grade at, but it's in awesome condition for sure... I don't think I've ever seen an IH with such detail.... I found an 1867 IH ( the second IH I had found ), but it's not as good looking as that one, and it also has been holed. You can see it about halfway down this page, if you'd like to compare them...

Continued Good luck, & Happy hunting~

P.S.> Thought I would through this in, just in case you didn't already know,,,, I wouldn't clean it at all.. It looks to be in great condition and an improper cleaning would decrease the value....
