I decided to make a short hunt with my dad today who just recently bought his first metal detector. We was only out for about an hour at an old home that was built between 1860-1870 when he got a good signal. Naturally I'd already been through this area about a hundred times but as luck would have it he made a great first relic find as far as I'm concerned. It was a belt buckle or buckle of some sort that looks to be made of thin copper. Please take a look and any info you guys can give us would be greatly appreciated... Thanks alot.

I ain't no expert and don't claim to be but that little buckle looks older than 1860's to me. Could be wrong but that is my opinion. Tennessee digger

I'm thinking Colonial personally...............Cool find......HH

The pin is not right for colonial, maybe late 19th C but 20th C seems more likely. Maybe horse related.

Thanks for all help guys. I would think horse related maybe but it's far to weak to take the pressure from horse related straps... It's very thin and made of copper.

I have no idea as far as a date but it's a nice relic. I would probably hang on to it. Great find!
