Went out yesterday with my buddy Jdsly and after hitting a few spots without finding anything, we met up with cbxjon and hunted one of his sites. After about an hour or so in the heat (90's) without digging anything good, I pulled this out the ground! My first half dime and with what looks like a hole made with a square nail to wear it on a necklace and in good condition! Made the five or so hours of hunting in the heat well worth it! Thanks for looking.

Makes the sweat all worthwhile. It's in nice shape but the hole.

Nice coin, did ya'll pull any other coins? Clad or anything?

love to find one, with a hole or not

Crisp looking half dime! Congrats

Now that my friend is an awesome find. Many years and many seated dimes but still haven't pulled a half dime out yet. Congrats.

Found a good date IHP couple week back same sort of puncher hole diamond shape. Nice find any way.

Great find! Thanks for sharing...

Thanks everyone for your comments! Even though I didn't dig any other good finds, this one made my day! The hole in it doesn't matter to me...cool to think someone was wearing it. Jdsly did end up digging an awesome eagle button too. Thanks again for y'alls comments.

Love them half dimes..congrats..

Congrats on an awesome find. Good to see people in the Carolinas finding awesome treasure. Thanks for sharing!

I wish for you it didn't have the hole in it. The condition is really nice. That said however, I would be tickled to find it even with the hole. Great job!

Check it out !Arrows date .... Nice one

In my humble opinion holed coins were like modern traveler's checks.
A traveler would sew or pin several of these silver or copper coins into the lining or inside of their jacket and use them as needed.

I'm leaning toward the String theory Myself. (Referring to the hole)

Great Coin indeed .
