The next township over owns an 1850's schoolhouse which I just received permission to hunt. One condition though, they get to see all the recovered items. I told them they could have all the recovered items to display.

The building was rehabbed several years ago, and I figured there would be tons of trash close to it. I was right; however, I was able to pull out a 1953 Wheat.

After swinging around the building, I decided to check around the old trees. What a great idea that was; first hit was a coin spill. Four coins, first was what looks to be a 1917 Buffalo Nickel. Second was a 1911 Barber Dime (my third silver of my career). Third and fourth respectively 1916 D Wheat and 1925 Wheat.

I'll need to remove a lot of trash before getting to anything good around the building, but I have as long as it takes.

Thanks for looking...

Nice Barber Dime, and other coins.
I'm going to make an educated guise that the property has seen many metal detectors over the years and your not likely to find tons of stuff, considering Metal Detectors were first invented / used in WW1

Also just wondering, who determines what you keep and what you donate ? 🤣

That could be true, it may have been detected before. I met the neighbor that actually attended school there during the last year it was open. He was not aware of anyone ever detecting the property, but you never know.

I offered for them to keep whatever they want. I enjoy the hunt.

Very sweet coin spill. Don't find them that often. I bet it was a guy doing handstands trying to impress his gal.

Yes, I understand that.. But in the end who decides, and did they keep the Barber or buffalo or you just hand everything to them regardless, because in the back of my mind I would always be hoping for them to say they didn't want that Barber Dime 🤣

All they have at the moment are photos. I haven't heard that they want to keep anything yet. Ultimately, they will decide what they will keep.

No, that was a corn field find last year. Bottom of a bottle I thought would make a cool background for photos.
