Good evening everyone! Normally I wouldn't bother to identify a find like this but my wife is VERY curious about this broken piece of ???, and not one bit interested my little IHP coin spill.
So ...here it goes

Mid tone 65 - 75 on Garret AT Gold

Thank you all for the help!

Don’t remember what it’s called but it looks like it screwed onto the end of a wooden pole and used to pull down an awning like store fronts had back when.

Dozer dan has a very interesting theory with it being used on a porch, I can see this because it's very decorative.
Looks to be nickel-plated cast iron, date wise I'm thinking 1st quarter 20thc.

Looks like one of those due dats that you would screw over a lamp shade to keep it in place. Probably a big fancy floor lamp. If you have a lamp around your house, try screwing it on to see if it fits.

Awesome guys, thanks! We figured it was some sort of decorative piece that screwed into some other decorative piece that served a function- lol. Thought someone might recognize the belled end with the tapered threads perhaps.

I would say it is the handle to a Pastry Plate stand with the ring at the top broken off and the plate missing.
Something simular to this...

That's a great ID. It does appear to be the remains of a post from a tidbit server/tray. Could be from 1890's thru the 1970's.
