Detecting this morning in northern Illinois farm field. Dug a 39 40 signal on the legend. Thought I had a token. After a little tooth picking on it at home I could see the eagle and the date. I've never dug a counterfeit in 50 years of detecting.

That's a rarer recovery, pretty nice indeed.
Certainly would get a spot in a display.
Liking the token and cash coin as well.
You had a really good day.

Interesting digs and agree with Pep that the counterfit would be a nicer unique display piece.
Grats and preciate the time to share.

How extraordinary!

Would something like that be worth anything (IDK)?
A modern counterfeit wouldn't, but one contemporaneous? :dontknow:
I'm thinking the counterfeits are rarer than genuine, but that may not enter into it.

I have the same Army-Navy token, but mine wasn't dug. I love CW tokens--#1 on my MD bucket list! 😍
