Hi All,

I dug these coins on Sunday finally got them clean enough to post. I dug the 1903 V Nickel first and it is a bent one. Then after some iron digging I dug the Indian Head which was very corroded and very green, I forgot to take a picture of it like that but it was real ugly. After some more junk digging I got a not to great signal and at about 7 inches out came a large copper. After a while letting it dry I could tell I dug a Braided Large Cent which turned out to be an 1842 after cleaning. Over all not a bad hunt and just getting out makes it all worth while. Thanks for reading and looking. Sorry for the sideways pictures I rotate them to be right and they still load this way :dontknow:

Super crisp looking coins! even the v nick. Most of them you find down in my area are eat up pretty bad. Nice finds!

Gorgeous LC, thanks for posting that up! Do you mind if I ask what your cleaning technique is? Seems like you've got it down to an art!

I just use the hot peroxide method like many others do here. Sometimes you win with it and sometimes you don't.

Nice early IH and great detail on that large cent Bubba! Those and the V nick made for a great day, but you're right, just getting out is what it's all about.

Those coins came out super nice...BTW you can clean the v-nickel up to make it look much nicer. I don't clean silver coins and rarely copper but since they already have environmental damage I don't worry about nickels. Here is one of my dug V-nickels after cleaning:

It kind of depends on the surface condition as to how it will look in the end but usually if they are not heavily pitted or "bumpy" to begin with, they will have a newish shine to them again. I use a steel brush on a Dremel sometimes for initial cleaning of the surface corrosion and/or a wetted Brillo pad (the kind that has the blue soap in it) The latter seems to have the best result when done alone or at least as the last step. The Dremel brush just makes it take a lot less manual scrubbing. Congrats on the finds : I would be excited to get such nice haul of old coins! :hello2:

OH and nice semi-key indian...someone else posted on the 14th that they found the same indian/year as well!

Nice finds. Great score on the Indian. Always liked finding Indian head pennies but when it's a semi-key date....hey, that really makes it sweet! HH

Super looking LC and a great date on the Indian. Nice finds.
