1837-FEUCHTWANGER CENT - Found at the Old Cellar Holes
Who knew when Jim and I left yesterday morning at 10:00 am in the light Drizzle rain and a cool 33 degrees that this site would give up another nice Piece of History again....? ? With already over 60 early 1800 coins and? over a 100 buttons and other Relics,Including? The George Washington 1795 coin, The Andrew Jackson 1829 Button ,The Temperence Medal? and more, that this day would be a great one again . This coin came out in an area that we must have walked over 50 times in the many times we have been there this year.? This coin? was made by Dr Feuchtwanger in
1837 and presented to Congress as a Composition coin ( containing different metals) to use as a replacement to the copper coins..as they say.. My Question is who has these coins in there pocket and what important people went to this site in that time period...I will continue to do research on this site ,still believing it was? one of the early Tavern or trading post sites on that old route it could have been both.? I? ?just can't wait to go back this weekend!!!!
? ? ?The other items were also found yesterday , The thimble when cleaning it was a surprize when the pieces of cloth came out from the inside, I was told that woman put the cloth around their finger to keep the thimble from falling off..Sound about right i guess..? The small flat piece came out about 5 feet where the Feuchtwanger coin came out. it has on the face a person riding a horse and the words ( Prince of Waterloo ) around the rim of the piece...? I have no idea ,will? have to look it up today..the rest of the items were pulled out around the area .... Jim also found 7 Buttons and a few other Relics .............After doing a Little research on the Prince of Waterloo button , it? was made? after the battle of Waterloo .The Duke of Wellington defeated napoleon in June of 1815 in the largest 1 day battle in European History. With his success they named him the (Prince of Waterloo)? .? ?Another piece of history this site has produced.... Keep on digging those faint Signals!!!!? ? ? ? Seeker? ? ?
