...The title should be "half dime" not dime

I got a gracious invite from HomeGuardDan to detect at an old and beautiful site here in Virginia yesterday along with Beau and Bill D.. One of my first targets of the day was a beautiful capped bust half dime which is the first one I've ever found. Aside from a few nicks this coin is in great condition. I was also able to pull out a few buttons and buckle pieces throughout as well. About half way through the hunt, Bill D. came up to me and asked me to play a trick on Dan by digging a planted Cromwell Commonwealth halfgroat. Even though I thought my acting debut was stellar, Dan wasn't buying any of it. I could see him out of the corner of my eye just staring at me with lie-detector stare....oh well
:tongue3: It was a beautiful day (besides the 400 mph winds) and I came away with a first-time coin for me. Thanks Dan!

Sweet looking coin!! Congrats!

very nice coin !!!

looks like a fun hunt..congrats

Congrats on the capped bust, looks to be in good shape. After 42yrs. i am still looking for my first. A 1841 seated dime is as close as i can get.

Thanks. The Capped Bust series of coins is my favorite and I'm stoked to have found my first half-dime.

Your coin has outstanding detail Joey, and it didn't take for you long to find it. Wasn't that your first target of the day? That was a fun hunt in beautiful weather, and everyone came home with a nice keeper coin. Guess we'll have to come up with something a little more clever for Dan next time.

Great coin! Congrats!

Also brings to mind something I think we all sort of share. A fear that if we hunt with someone else, especially in one of our own spots, they're going to find something wonderful that we would've eventually found. :)

Sweet CB Dime, GL & HH!

Yeah, I was amazed at the amount of detail on it.

I think Dan is too smart of a guy to pull one over on or maybe I should have at least put some dirt on the coin before I showed him, lol.

heart stopper right there

Yeah, I think you'd have to get up pretty early in the morning to pull one over on Dan. We'd better watch out now, though, as our turn is next.

NICE HUNT, THE DIME IS AWESOME !

Beautiful coin there joeyfresh. I have one a few years younger and it's one of my most cherished finds, even with a few Spanish under my belt. Congrats.

Thanks silversweeper. My first old silver find was a slick capped bust quarter and ever since then I've always been fond of the capped bust series. Maybe it's just the type of sites I lean towards but I've found way more 1600s coins than capped bust silver.

Nice detail on your coin!! ....you got bragging rights on that one! Congrats!
