That's a cool cft. I like them just as much as the real thing sometimes. Congrats

yes i'll be going back this weekend, so much to detect, ill be there many yrs for that spot.

That's a great find! Way to go! :icon_thumright:

The only counterfeit stuff I've had any luck finds, has been modern gold jewelry, and that aint worth squat. A vintage counterfeit half dollar is certainly much better.

Great find.

I'd be kind of surprised if it was copper - as old as it is (if period) copper is so reactive to the soil - seems a bit too nicely preserved -
any ideas about how these counterfeits were made ??????????????

Wow - thanks's for the link pepperj I just clicked on it and realized that there's this whole aspect of U.S. coins that I was completely
ignorant of - namely the sheer quantity of counterfeits along side circulating genuine coins (period fakes) very interesting !

thanks, don't know if I wanna try to do any cleaning to this coin yet, I hear that it destroys the value, and still trying to find out what I really have. im sure it has value, but how much is the question, I contacted
Contemporary Counterfeit Capped Bust Half Collectors Club, and they e-mailed me back, but they havnt seen one like this either, so the mystery still goes on.
