1814 Dime

[Spoonman]

Found an 1814 dime today while metal detecting with my friend. It was only about 3-4 inches down. Unfortunately I caused some damage to the edge, but I'm still really excited at such a rare find! We were both amazed at how good the condition is for being almost 200 years old.

I am sure you told your self why couldn't it have been a penny that you nicked . But still cool find have yet to find one

Nice find! We all damage things from time to time. Was the obverse rubbed when it was found?

Not true. I don't think I have nicked a coin in a decade.

To be honest, I think that the beep/dig machines taught patience, since you could never know what something is.

Now with the ID machines, that coin on edge is the one likely to be damaged by the digger.

That said, nice dime. Too bad about the gouge.
