I love really old silver coins! That is a great find!

Just curious, what sort of place was it found? A park, school, yard? I find it fascinating to see where they wind up.

Congrats!
HH!

Thanks everyone! @Whadifind - I found it at a park.

Nice find! We all damage things from time to time. Was the obverse rubbed when it was found?

Not true. I don't think I have nicked a coin in a decade.

To be honest, I think that the beep/dig machines taught patience, since you could never know what something is.

Now with the ID machines, that coin on edge is the one likely to be damaged by the digger.

That said, nice dime. Too bad about the gouge.

wow that's sweet. our country was very young when that was minted. awesome find, congrats!

That is one sweet early dime. It must have been a thrill to identify that baby in the field. Yowsa!

Gorgeous coin!!! Unlucky on the ding.

Nice find!! That is a coin on my list. Too bad about the nick from the digger but we have all done it and it gives it character.

Congrats!!

Thanks everyone! And thanks for trying to help me feel less bad about the damage. I can't wait to get back out and try to top this find, although that may never happen. HH

Superb find, nicked or otherwise.
