Based on condition can anyone ballpark a figure? Thanks!

That funky blotchy tarnish/patina doesn't help it but otherwise that's in pretty darn good shape. Ungraded it's hard to say or put a price on but I'd say somewhere between $150 & $250 & that's assuming it has the "normal" rim but if it has the (III) rim or the (XXX) rim then that would make the value jump higher.
The PCGS price guide values an 1809 ‘with bars’ edge at around $30,000 in MS-65 grade, as opposed to around $17,500 for a PCGS graded MS-65 1809 half with a typical edge. So that kind of gives ya a feel for the price differences depending on what kind of rim it has.
If your half were graded that would be a whole different story on value Capped Bust Half Dollar Values | CoinHELP!

With there being such a huge gap between VF and EF there's no way a bidder would cut their self off at VF for this coin whether it's graded or not. I'll pay $300 right now... so I guess you can up your estimate at least that much ... but I still think more. Sure the coin is going to have issues from being dug, but eye appeal counts for a lot, and probably more than a lot of people give it. I'll wait for someone to prove me wrong, but I am thinking more like $500-$800 if you just threw it on ebay. I didn't check any sales, but if EF is over a grand I don't see why bids wouldn't creep up towards that figure. f you wanted to go into detail about it being dug, and the scratches etc, I'm sure you could kill your price, but there's really no reason to because thousands of coins are sold every day with nothing more than the picture. I'm interested to hear what anyone else thinks.
PS: I'll pay $400 right now, so it's worth at least that much!

Not really interested in selling but if I did I KNOW that IP could re-sell it and make a profit...he's got a knack.
Thanks for the input everyone...I was just curious.
This (lll) variety 1809 in EF sold for $304 free shipping & the (lll) is much more sought after & higher price than the normal edge variety is!---> 1809 XF AU Capped Bust Half Dollar "III" Variety Nice Eye Appeal Scarce | eBay

So personally if I owned that coin it would by yours for a $400 offer! Id say all 3 of those would go higher than his dug coin would bring but that's just my opinion, doesn't mean I'm right. Dug coins almost never seem to bring what coins out of old collections bring. Not to mention one of those is graded & graded in the EF range at that.
Oh found this one graded at XF45, it sold for $498 + again its graded & it's the RAREST of the 3 varieties for 1809-->1809 Capped Bust Half Dollar PCGS XF45 O 106 R3 | eBay
Obviously the numbers must keep the price down, which is to bad. But I also would not auction it and hold out for a price, so I still would not worry even if I spent $400. Now I'd be more likely to look around because I wouldn't buy something for $400 unless I could get $600, and that seems like it could be tough. I can also tell you if I dug it, I wouldn't sell for $1,000.
