1808 Draped Bust Half Cent

well got out today and hit an old side that has been hammered. In the first 15 minutes, dug a 1808 Draped Bust Half Cent at about 5" deep. Nothing else of note showed up but it was only a 2.5 hr hunt. Also found a musket ball. It's amazing how many times I'll go to site and the first thing I dig is an old coin or silver coin. Must be some kind of 'coin witching' ability. Anybody else have this frequently happen?

Was a perfect day for hunting in PA. Even the moon was out late in the morning.

Ohhhh, you Colonists... It's 50 years older than my oldest coin, and I'd be doing back flips (I never could before, but there's a first time for everything).

Hey Ocean,
Nice coin!! I think your "coin witching" has creedence. It's the same principle
that dowsers use. Have you ever noticed, if you don't feel good about a site,
or your confidence level is down, it is reflected in your finds. I have talked with
a few professional dowsers, and all of them have told me that everyone has the
ability to dowse, or have the dowsing sense. Some are just more able to work
with it.

great coin. Imagine a coin worth half a cent in todays day and age. I only have one half cent in my collection (non-dug). It happens to be an 1808. I wish I could find one with my detector. Good job. Get back to that site and find another.

Congrats, half cents are always a good find, your photo of that blue sky makes me wish I could have hunted this weekend, but there is tomorrow for me.

Most of my hunts nowadays are only 2.5-3.5 hour hunts .
