Hit a new spot td for an hour before the heat got to me but it wa worth it. The 10 cent is bigger than most of the older dimes I find and really thin too. Few buttons including the deer button. It has a back mark but ill have to clean it to see it. It's a two piece brass button any cleaning suggestions. I have no idea what the piece with the bear face on it is. Looking for an Id on that. Thanks

That's probably not a bear face.

Congrats! Looks like you got a great spot there. Would love to see a clearer scan of that old dime!

SUPER !!!!!! THE DIME IS A GREAT FIND ! :icon_thumright:

I will try when I get back home just did it quick but its pretty toasted.

Looks like a squashed pipe but the head would be the wrong way???

Ya that's what I thought at first but there is another hole on top and the face would be upside down

Hello Greylock,

Nice group of finds, sir. I'm inclined to think a monkey face on a vesta case with a match holding arm...

Big Congrats on the Early US silver , draped bust dimes are a tough find .

Yes sir one more of that type before they say my time is through :laughing7: , when you get a chance is it possible for you to post up some close up pictures please .

Thank you much and nice hunt and finds :skullflag:

Nice relics, but I love the Draped Bust dime!! Don't see many of those found. Congrats. :notworthy:

Great finds Tom. Too bad on condition, but will still like to see better pics. CONGRATS...........Todd

wow, Draped Bust Silver? That's a rare find my friend. Congrats! On the obverse, are those adjustment marks?

Looks like you got a nice spot if you made those finds in just an hour. The Draped Bust dime is a great find in any condition. Most people have never found one.

Testing they just seem to be circulation scratches but I could be wrong.
Steve most of my time is spent on virgin ground and I when I'm there I just look for a hot spot and then I hammer it. When the finds thin out I expand the search. Very nice to see early us silver. In fact it's my second oldest us silver.
Anybody else have an idea what the monkey thing could be. Posted it in the what is it forum and someone said maybe a whiskey decanter. Thanks for looking

I gotta go BANNER on the dime - the rarity of this period American silver ever dug up and posted here demands it ! The condition
is obviously quite worn - but you've got all you need to ID it plus a date ! This is a super rare find !!!!!!!!

Greylock Congrats on a great hunt and a super find on the dime. You are way ahead of the ball game when you can read a nice date like that one. :icon_thumleft:

awesome finds. love the early US silver. personally, I think that's kind of a funky looking monkey. my vote is that it's a lion.
