Hi all, been wanting an old bell for years and I found this one for 75 bucks.
It's in pretty good shape and I was just wondering what they are worth .
No date that I can find but I am sure it's at least 1920s. IMG_20180102_180437.jpgIMG_20180102_180420.jpg

good deal for 75$, the #3 large 18-20 inch post bells, ive seen
at local fleas here, for 300$ up if both parts for hanger and swing
are there, with just top bar like yours 150$

Looks more like an old railroad engine bell.

:occasion14: 150 sounds good to me. Going to hang it in the front yard and ring it every new year.

Looks like this one at this 1910 farm house (on the poll just right of the car port)014.JPG

I think it's from 1895

Cool old bell. Reminded me of the one we had on the farm when I was growing up. My mother used it mostly when it was time to eat or she needed me to come back home from one of my adventures.

Very Nice! You can make it a dinner bell....

Cheers

Be sure to use thru carriage bolts and either weld or booger the threads real good. In Kentucky almost everyone had a farm bell in the yard and when the price of them started to go up, a lot of the unsecured ones started disappearing. Pillow block bearings work great for mounting them. My neighbors hate when I ring mine. It can be heard a mile down the lake.

that would be a great dinner bell lol
