I'm no coin guy but I'm trying to learn. Any idea what this is worth? Thanks!

A member will jump in shortly with an estimate - but, that is one nice find Fast Ed.

Thanks VP! I took a gamble and used a method I used to use for gently preparing silver jewelry for final finishing back when I used to be in that business. If I find that this method has had no negative effect on value I will post it on this forum....

That coin has a lot of good detail and there is one on ebay right now with less detail going for $117. Good find!

well its a 1789 with the reverse of 1797 see the two leaves on the top right hand side of the wreath so that brings the price up I would say it's worth around $400 but its hard to get a real good idea without holding it.

I am not sure of what Variety it is. However, I believe that it has VF-30 details but has been damaged, has a porous Obverse and has been cleaned which can be determined due to the brighter Copper showing in the damage areas even without the O.P's admission. Therefore, it would more than likely receive a net grade of F-12!!!

Thanks for the input guys. So best guess is its worth somewhere between $100 and $400? I'll let you know what the local coin shop has to say.........
