Hey, we all understand. Family comes first. God provided you with a way to pay some bills and keep your detector. We go from faith to faith. It is awesome that you have a wife who encourages you and speaks boldness to you so you have the courage to get the job done... and you did!

God bless your family

Thank you for your story ! and I agree with MichiganMan that this old Flowing Hair cent got things flowing for you in a time when
you needed it - Fascinating to me how one persons loss of One Cent back in 1800 or some years earlier, became a fairly significant
source of income for you in 2014 in a time of need - WOW ! Blessings to you and your family !!!

What a coin, and yes I want more pictures too! :)

Thanks everyone. I'll try to put up some more photos tomorrow.

Congrats! She has quite a lot of life left in her

WOW.. That is one awesome coin. Congrats! It's great to see coins like that come out of NC. GL&HH!

Thanks guys, and I appreciate the banner votes. All the at a boys help to make up for not being able to hold on to it.

One of the holy grail US coppers! Congratulations! I'll vote Banner!

100% banner worthy and would be in my finds of a lifetime category.

Thanks guys. Like a I said I've been detecting since I was a kid, and I'd have to say it's probably my top find so far. Gotta get that gold coin and CS buckle now! Lol

You got my banner vote. My 1793 Flowing Hair Wreath cent is up there somewhere too. Great find, I sold mine for $1,200 on eBay.

Thanks! Yah eBay may be a better way to go, can't get retail at a dealer.

By popular demand I added more photos of front and back as well as before cleaning including one right out of the whole with the buckle that was by it.

I'm currently enjoying a nice batch of poison ivy from this hunt. It was just a vacant lot in town that had been grown up but was recently cut. I'm guessong a lot of what I thought was grass was fresh cut poison ivy stubble. In any event it was worth it to grab Americas first penny and one of the rarest US coins in the middle of town.
