Hey guys,

After the overwhelming response to my first post I decided re-post with the new identification. Having put the large cent under a magnifier glass, sanity checked it with my wife...it definitely says 1793!!! Here's a few more pics.

Thanks for looking!

That's a Sweet coin indeed ! With the pronounced hair curl (nearest the 1 in 1794 ) I'm fairly confident you have what is referred to as
the "Head of 1794" variety . I'm no expert - simply reading the guidelines in my "Red Book".

Beautiful coin! Congrats on a rare find. That coin still has a lot of detail on it.

Very nice. I did get the '93 flowing hair, but I would still love to find a capped. Banner vote in

That is a very sweet coin. A heartfelt congratulations to you my friend on such a beauty.

Perfect! Don't try doing anything more to it. Sheez that came out nice!

Congrats again. And Vino, yes, yours is pretty too.

From the pics I still cant make out the date. Sure would like to see it. Nice coin in any case. Grats!

Congrats on a great find!

Congrats on a really sweet find. Jealous! GL&HH.

Congratulations vmi airpwr on finding an Awesome 1794 Liberty Cap large cent . Military aviation guy:occasion14:
Corrosion visually plays tricks with the date but there is detail that still exists . For further id Check the great site Coin Facts and Good Luck . The 1793 is only 11000 minted because of a yellow fever plaque that wiped out 4000 Philadelphians including the new engraver of the first US coppers Joseph Wright and other Philly Mint workers . 1793 are the First US coins and imo some of you T Netters may agree , the the Best designs esp. The Chain Cent .... .

Nice going on your liberty cap, and glad that you could finally ID it.

It's cleaning up really nice, the details for a dug coin of that date are just wonderful! I think it's a fantastic find, whatever the final date.. would LOVE to dig one up myself. Keep us posted please it is VERY interesting! Congrats.. I don't feel like a coin has to have monetary value for a banner.. That's a banner find to me.
