1787 vermont copper

minelab explorer se with x-1 sunray probe
tonight i was going threw some of my coins i've dug the last couple of months. i found one that i thought was a worn down large cent but when i cleaned it up a little i seen it had a date(1787) so i cleaned it a bit more and saw the outline of a figure .so i looked it up and seems to be a 1787 vermont copper just can't make out anything on the other side tho. pics are not the best sorry but i put one from off the net so let me know what you think thanks and hh.

ya sorry not to good with the cam.i will try to get new pics tomorrow
 

you can change pic size in your photo program..click size photo then delete size in it an either type 500 or 700 in the space the bottom numbers will automaticly be put in as you type the top numbers...

Try to take the photo using the "macro" setting on the camera (the flower icon), and take the photo in the daylight too. Natural light helps.

jps, I think in one of the larger pictures you can see an almost readable "A" of Britania.
 

I sure don't see enough to call it a Vermont. It could be but there are other coins with the seated figure as well, such as Connecticut coppers and British halfpence. I think I might see LIB to the right of the figure, I would lean toward a Connecticut.

Agreed, I would lean CT, then British Halfpenny and VT would me my last guess. Hard to say, at times I think I see LIB but also think I see an A, details just not clear enough to say and I played with the photo.

I would recommend to concentrate on trying to "bring out" those letters on the right side, if that last digit near the shield is a A, then it is a KGIII counterfeit Halfpenny most likely.
