Sweet old copper- Congrats!

Yes that is an extremely rare EAC. Congradulations. I recommend you get it graded IMMEDIATELY!!! That coin can sell for $45,000 easily.

I can't tell if it is a Vermont or a Connecticut. Are some of the legends on the obverse more visible with the coin in hand than the photo?

This is a great find, but there is no way to say how rare the coin is without knowing the variety. The odds of it being very valuable in that condition are very slim. Most dug colonial coppers would sell for no more than a couple of dollars, the real value is the historical value and you can justifiably be proud of that. First is to determine whether it is a Connecticut or a Vermont. One trick you can try is to make a rubbing of the coin with a piece of nice smooth shiny aluminum foil, this will usually show more detail than is visible on the coin itself.

That is a great find congrats!

Thanks I.Cutler, I will try the foil trick and see how it comes out. i will get a picture of that to post.

Very nice! I'm always a fan of state coppers no matter what the state. Congrats

Thanks for sharing this great find. Don't be a stranger to T-Net in the future. I'm guessing that there are a lot of us who would love to see more of your colonial coins and relics. HH

Wow. Nice find I hope it's what you hope it is!
