I found out this is a New Jersey Copper Coin. But there are quite a few different types. What are your thoughts?

I am coming up with 24-R, which is a better variety. don't take that to the bank though, there are a couple of guys on here that know more about New Jerseys that will be along.

Thanks :) . How did you guess what type? I looked at some variations online and my eyes were going bugeye. Couldn't figure out how to tell the difference.

No guess, it is all in the details. The lettering, shape of the horse head, plow, shield, etc.

Thanks cutler, I appreciate it :)
It is a bummer it has a dot of corrosion, but quite frankly, I'm just happy to own a coin from the 1700's! I don't collect coins, so this is quite special to me.

It is a wonderful coin, a lot of the earlier coppers have some degree of corrosion. Take care of it, and whatever you do, don't try to clean it in any way. Congratulations on a great piece of history!
