This was my last silver find of 2006. The year went out with a bang! Me and Buckleboy were hunting a Civil War spot here in town and I got a signal that sounded like a truck was under my coil. I thought it was big iron until I started pinpointing. It was 10 inches deep so I thought I should check it out and Im glad I did! Thanks to BB for being there and identifying it for me. I did not know what I had but I knew it must be old. It is VERY VERY thin I hope some of the detail shows up in the pictures. Thanks for looking and thanks to BB for the help on the day I will NEVER EVER forget.

Awsome find! I have bought a few off of Ebay but I never expect to find anything that old in Oregon unless it is a beach find.

Oh yea.....a reale is a great find, KFAB! Congratulations on an awesome dig! 8)

Wow, That is one special Coin you found. Congratulations. I know the feeling on hearing a sound like a Mac Truck.
I had a signal like that the last week of this year. I told my partner, I going to dig this beer can up so the next time we
hunt this field, I won't have to hear it. Guess what, it was a 1851 Large Cent, you could have knocked me over.
My detector said it was a 50 cent piece, well it was, sort of, same size anyway. Well, like I always say, you just never
know what you will dig up.

Thanks again for your post and pictures, HH, Ringfinder

Glad I was there, KFB. I'm always happy to see old silver see the light of day, even if I'm not diggin it myself. But hey, I shoulda at least found that Merc. dime you dug there!!! I was totally skunked that day, and I got to see a couple more happy-dances from the KFB play book Hahaha. Funny thing is it took me a while to figure out what the heck it was. I thought it was a 20 cent piece at first--until I saw how thin it was. Great hunt that day, and the night hunt afterwards was a helluva lot of fun. Good luck with your site this weekend!

Regards,

Buckleboy

HEY, YOUR 1778 REALE IS ALMOST AS GOOD AS THE ONE I FOUND THIS PAST SUMMER. (LOL) TOO BAD YOU "FIELD CLEANED YOURS AND RUINED WHAT COULD OF BEEN A FIND OF A LIFETIME."

How do you figure he ruined the find of a lifetime???

Nice find there...I could look at Spanish silver all day...no matter what the condition! Can you tell what denomination it is?

Reales are fun to find. You cannot ever forget your first one. I found mine this month. Great find.
