My first Dutch Silver! A great match size and date-wise for my 1770 Spanish One Real I found three years ago. I also found a small silver disc that isn't a button. The Georgian buckle looks like it belonged to a youngster. I always find lots of horse shoes but usually leave them in the woods don't post. Here I post two I found today. Shows good contrast between a chunkier 1700's shoe and an early 1800's shoe. Today I also found four iron bridle rings (these don't excite me unless they are brass). The bottle has the 60 date code. Hate to refer to it as an antique as I born in the same year. I left the knife on a deer stand as a hunter must have lost it.

I just wrapped up a 4 days in a row (32 hours) metal detecting binge. I tromped through so much forest, flicked off loads of ticks, and am basically physically shot from scanning hills and digging. Plus I battled some bramble patches. I looked at so much iron and early paper shotgun shell brass bases. They usually ring up solid in the 30's and I have to dig them to be sure. I have to go back to work tomorrow, but finding the silver this morning almost makes me feel like going out dirt fishing for Easter Monday.

Great finds! You have to wonder about a paring knife lying about in its sleeve. Not a lot of people carry them.
Deer stands in the area and pretty far from the dirt roads. Rather than drag deer out, hunters may sometimes field dress and just take the choice cuts. I've run across such remains. Birds of prey including an increasing turkey vulture population keep an eye on me looking for a free lunch.

I’m not arguing, but around here deer hunters don’t carry Paring Knives. We carry more substantial blades.

Eastender, that bar across the back is a corrective horseshoe. They would add caulks for more traction. Anyhow, I'm like you, I have found too many horseshoes, they stay in the woods when I find them.

Those are awesome, what state did you find them in?
