I had an unusual find today detecting. A 1768 German 1/12 Thaler. Silver smaller than a quarter and larger than a nickel. Crappy signal but heard a high tone very deep. Ended up digging it at close to 10 inches. Never saw one before. Thanks for looking and may your coil get over IMG_20200905_180000037.jpgIMG_20200905_175944787.jpggreat finds.

1/12 Thaler, Hannover or Brunswick-Lueneberg-Calenberg-Hannover (it bounced around a lot). There's a more than slight chance it came from the pocket of one of George III's conscripts/slave soldiers - he owned that part of Germany at the time.

Excellent point! I hadn't given a thought to the multitude of German mercenaries hired out buy King George the Third to fight the rebellious colonists in America. Man, I'm slipping. Hmmmm? "Revolutionary War, Pennsylvania, German coin, German soldiers, 1776, 1768?" :icon_scratch:?:icon_scratch:

Johnoco - awesome find!

Interesting and great find!

Nice 18th century coin. Wouldn't mind finding one of those myself.

Beautiful 18th century silver. Congrats!

Thats a great one! Not seen one come up here in my area. Agree with Brunswick. It's in good condition for a coin from these years. They are usually the most worn silvers we get. Not much money with 1/12 Thaler but maybe a keepsake with the Hanoverian Horse. Congrats, well done!

Cool find, congrats! :occasion14:

Neat coin. The leaping horse of Hannover is a real nice design. As stated by others it’s from the state of Braunschweig. Cool find.

Super cool... great detail... one side is super crisp.

Well done.
