1715 fleet --- SAN MIGUEL DE EXCELSIS - where did it go?

scuba -- sorry but I was trying to explain how 1715 fleet items found in the nassau sound came off a vessel other than a main 1715 fleet wreck * and how folks for years read the "15 leagues to the leeward" as meaning north and with 1715 things found in the sound -- put the two things together and thought that there was a main 1715 wreck there. --and how spotswood's letter showed the error in it -- showing the vessel in the sound for what for really was and explaining how 1715 fleet items actually came to be there.
and noting that the spotswood distance of "about 40 miles" was spot on with the wreck site .

the important part however is this * if salmon was talking about the nassau sound wreck, (using 3.5 miles per league 15 leagues is 52 1/2 miles ) he was way off -- 12 1/2 miles.

so one of 3 things is possible ----either salmon was was way off if it nassau sound he was speaking of -- OR maybe the wreckage salmon speaking of its not related to nassau sound at all--- if so and leeward is north --salmons wreckage he spoke of is 12 1/2 farther north -- OR maybe the "leeward " wreckage is SOUTH --52 1/2 miles.

I agree were did it go , I am a Canadian new to the site and was wondering if someone could help me get a crews list of any of the missing fleet (or any other treasure filled ship or cache). I require the actual names. My mother is a somewhat physic and has worked with the police on several occasions (for free) finding bodies with some success(her success rate is 14 for 14) .She cannot see the future but isn`t bad on the past and all she needs is a name, that's it ,no location or any other info . It may work it may not and I make no promisses or claims but she would like to try (at my request). It would be best I think to have bodies that are probably near or on the treasure locations as weird as it seems dead bodies seem to be her specialty and she seems to be able to find them down to the inch not just the general area ,so I was thinking it may be a great way to locate something of value that may be under or beside the missing person. Any help would be appreciated thanks -John

welcome jake 44 ---ah your moms a dead"dowser" eh? -- some folks have special "talents" in that way some say --others think not that its bogus --- (I do think there is things modern day science can not fully explain -- so you could say I'm a believer) --by the way we got a whole dowsing forum.

It`s more like she has to lead you there and on the water you have to put her in a boat by herself and get everybody 100 ft away once she is close. I use to be very skeptical and unfortunately do not have the talent myself but belive she can do it

the "gift" of being able to find the dead is a gift very few folks would knowingly want --

I , myself often feel things and past events at times that happened at places (pain, death ,suffering )---
very often I have "found out" later after feeling that special "cold" feeling come over me , that the place I was at had a murder, death or minor battle at it. -- being able to feel it , is not a gift in my veiw but rather skill god gave me--- god gives everyone special "skills"or "gifts" some are aware of their skills or "gifts" while others are not.--why I got this one I have no ideal --( I would much rather have been able to predict the lotto )

I do not speak much of it generally , since some folks do not understand it . and say your a nut job. :tard:

Thanks Ivan -The first time she actually used her gift she found a young lad that had been murdered and described what he had on for clothing and were he was .She was right on and the police at first put her on the suspect list as a thank-you ,but was quickly cleared. After the second one the police stopped asking how she could know what she knows and just phone her now. She has never used her gift to make herself a dime but after being a diver and a part time miner here in BC, I was looking at this site and thought if she can`t find the treasure itself maybe she can find the bodies of the men that died with it. The length of time since the death happened dosn`t seem to matter 1 yr or 500 yrs its all the same to her. If you have any idea`s I can assure you greed is not what she is about and you would be welcome to come along for a share.

Ivan, unfortunately until the site near Amelia is worked and documented who knows what it is. It could be a lot of things, Amelia & St. Marys have had quite a few visitors over the years. There are a lot of wrecks there. I honestly don't know what was found off the site we're referring to, I'm sure some of that could help identify it. Who really knows what it is or was though? A lot of people worked the Sebastian sites back in the day, same as today. Could one of them have lost a boat full of 1715 fleet goodies after the fact, maybe. Could it be one of the original wrecks, who knows.

I guess my point was don't try to make the Spotswood piece the holy grail. There are a lot more research puzzle pieces out there. The more you know from numerous independent sources the better. The ones everybody routinely quotes and espouse could contain inaccuracies, especially after translating things multiple times. Maybe Claudio or Bobodilla could weigh in, I just feel like there is more information out there that isn't yet common knowledge. Whether someone wants to disclose it on a public internet forum is another matter entirely.

Jake you need to get your mom to sniff out a site, it would not be the first time that has been used. I'm not knocking her talent, I've seen people do some interesting things over the years. Like someone else said, I don't think I'd want it.

I've had pretty good results with an ordinary cesium magnetometer. I can usually put a diver on the money.

I can usually put a diver on the money.

I can attest to that. 17 miles offshore, 90 feet of water, and Scubadude can drop me directly on an anomaly he magged up the previous night!

The man is not only good with a mag he is also great with the Side Scan Sonar and is one of the best Captains I have seen...I would never be in a salvage operation with out Capt. Dalton

Where's a moderator when you need one?

I knew I shouldn't have hit the upload button.........

Word on the street when you need to find something underwater...Jim Whitaker or Brad Dalton.

The two best remote sensing guys in the business IMHO.

The guy that is asked to interpret data from lots of "experts" is Gary Kozak from Klein Associates in New Hampshire. They make one of the best sidescans and Gary has been their chief field guy for over 30 years.

There are a lot of good people that do remote sensing work. Problem is many just don't like dealing with treasure hunters.
