Woke up at five o'clock. My mom had already prepared some food to take with me. In 40 mins I got to the same hill where I found last Sunday the big byzantine coin. Till 12 o'clock nothing special except this strange coin.

than some coins came one after one. They are more than 2100 years old and almost flat.
Near a small bush I had an iffy sound. It looked like a piece of bronze but cleaning it with the fingers was enough to see that it was cold. First I found only the biggest part so I had to search for the others. I missed the small piece on the center.

Gold Solidus, Justinian 527-565 AD.

Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin.

And just before leaving I found this silver coin. No idea yet.
Thanks for reading.

1500 or 1000 years old. It's an amazing find either way. One a majority of us can never find ourselves. Now I have to figure out how to vote a banner in the app [emoji57]

Edit: figured it out. Vote is in.

I will :occasion14:
The hardest part was to find it.

Hi guys.
The title was about the gold coin and it was worth it but something was left in the shadows.
Everybody has seen the silver coin in bad conditions.
I had no idea what it was until I found the same in better conditions.

And now, thanks to JamieD I know that I had found a:

Hi Westfront
You asked to clean that denarus. I tried but I couldn't and so I went to search the area near my home and found the same but in better conditions. :hello2:

Thats another way to do it. :headbang: Just go out and find a better 2250 year old coin.... You're on fire Vince! Pick everything as long as your luck will last!

I will but it will not heal my broken heart for not finding the fifth and the central part. :)

Thanks inseparable Lisa&John

Thanks DigToChina.
One thing is sure. It doesn't matter what's your metal detector when you search in the right place and you are lucky. Great finds can come out.
Thanks for the vote. Yours might be the one :headbang:

I was joking but for sure it was a nice coincidence. I had never found a silver coin in that area(where I found The second one).

Man Vince I am rolling over here; someone tells you to clean something up, did not work so you just went and got another 250 BC coin.

That is great,

So since you could not get that one cleaned up enough at Westfronts request, you think you could head back out for the rest of us and find some more amazing treasures. I dare you!

Dear Oddjob.
I had some free time and I was reading my old posts. Sorry for not answering.
As I explained it was a rare coincidence. I could have write a new post with that silver but it was a very nice coincidence also because it was the first silver coin in that area. I have checked again that area and I have found other silver coins(not the same ).
But I also accept the challenge. I search for coins and I don't dig every single signal. If I do it, who knows what comes out!
Vince

Wow that's great!! Super site you got going there!

Late to the show, I'm not really sure how I could of missed this post of your amazing gold. Congrats on the find and the recovery of most of it, the missing piece would be renting space in the head for sure.

Thanks Pepperj. The missing part is still there, I'm sure. One of these days it will be placed together with the rest of the family! :)
