I received a call from a friend last week; he works for one of my equipment rental customers. He told me that, "he had just received a call from a guy who wanted to rent a metal detector to find a wedding ring he'd lost while laying sod around his new garage". My friend told him "they didn't rent metal detectors, but he knew a guy who might be able to help." Luckily, I had to make a trip to Eastern Ontario this week and so we arranged to meet in the closest town to the guy's house and I followed him there.
The guy's wife Leslie greeted us when we arrived and immediately told me that, "it was very unlikely that I would find her husband's ring as he had turned over 100+ pieces of sod feverishly looking for the ring but couldn't find it"!
I started to grid the yard and quickly found a beautiful piece of aluminum flashing! After about 15mins. with very few good signals, I got an 82 - 84 reading. I pinpointed the signal, rolled back the sod and there it was! Leslie couldn't believe I had found it!
Thanks for looking,
Dave
