Ok,
I found this ring last night. It has a 14k mark on the inside but it has a strange blueish patina. I had the diamond tested and it is not real.
I filed a bit on the band and it looks gold or brass underneath the patina. I did an at home scratch test and it tested as 14k....assuming I judged the test results correctly. I was thinking/hoping that this was a colored gold and the outer alloy developed the patina.
I haven't seen gold come out of the ground any other color than gold before, but I don't have a lot of experience in the area.
Has anyone else found gold that looked like this?
Any info is appreciated. The real test will be when I go to sell it and the shop does their test.
