Invited sellers (“sellers”) who list in the auction-style or auction-style with Buy It Now formats, pursuant to the terms and conditions set forth herein, will pay no insertion fee per item listed ("Promotion") for up to 300,000 listings during the Promotion Period as defined below. 3, 5, 7, and 10-day listing durations are included as part of this Promotion.

ebay sent me this just a few days ago. If they had sent it earlier, like a year ago, I might have 5-600 auctions going right now.

Hey Cyber Dan any advice I just started selling on ebay and I have some items that are worth 70- 125 dollars but started them as .99 auctions. What is the best way to list them and not sell something worth 100 for .99 cents? I am doing 7 day auctions. How do I determine shipping fees for items like a mug I just sold today for 10.01 and charged 5 dollars shipping. I have 4 motorcycle helmets how should I ship those? Thanks for any input you have.

1. If you list an item at 99 cents, the "market" will determine what the item is worth. If the item is selling on average for $100, then it should fetch close to that amount as long as you listed it well and accurately.

2. Your question about the mug has me going ??? If you charged $5 then that was your shipping amount. Not sure I understand the question.

3. Regarding the motorcycle helmets: Put them in a box and take it to the post office. Not sure I understand what exactly you are asking.

When doing a low volume of listings adding a 2nd category is well worth the 25 cents. You should look at past sales for your items and try to determine the demand. The less demand the more the risk there is, and better chance you won't be happy with the price. Even when you know there is a demand it can still be hard on the nerves. Several years back I had a fairly rare item on, didn't have much into it and knew it should get what it was worth so started at 0.99 and let it go. With about 10 seconds left if was about $50 or $60, and even though part of me felt safe because I knew two guys who were very interested planned to bid, it still didn't prevent my heart skipping a few beats thinking if one doesn't bid I could be screwed. Then the snipes went in and it jumped to $986. These days I do not put myself in that situation because I have plenty of time to get my price.

I don't do $0.99 auctions - ever. Too much risk of being forced to sell something WAY below market value for my blood. There are far too many variables and unknowns for me to be comfortable starting an auction with such a low price. If the items you want to sell, cazisme, truly have the value you think they do, start your auction at a price you can live with if it doesn't get bid up much.

As far as determining shipping costs, weigh your item (plus an extra pound for the box and packing material), then go to the USPS postage calculator on their web site and you will be able to get a close estimate of what it will cost to ship. Or you can use the lazy man's way (which I use often). If your item is a common one, do an ebay search for the item and see what others are typically charging to ship the same or very similar items. Most times that number will be pretty close to the actual cost.

I have a rolex oyster box with inner box and all tags and directions and pillows on now and it is started at .99 and It is going up, a buyer emailed with a phone number he wanted to buy it now for $70 but I have it at a 7 day auction so we shall see what it sells for. Since I paid well, actually I was paid to haul it away I am not going to lose any money on it regardless of what it sells for. The Motorcycle helmet i have is a limited edition that I have seen listed for $200 to $400 in way worse shape so I am hoping to get at least a $100 for that one again I am starting it out at .99 cents. All of your input has been invaluable to me thank you.

If I had an item that I wanted $100 for there is NO WAY I'm putting it on for much less, let alone 99 cents
Since the economy crashed, I've been putting things on at what I consider a fair price. If it doesn't sell, I take some off and run it again. If I have to take too much of I start to look at keeping it. With 50 free auctions a month, I can always hit re-list. But then I'm not doing it commercially
